How Do I Hire Someone From Nepal To Work For Me In My Home In The Usa?
Posted in Q&A Nepal on 06/16/2009 11:15 pm by adminI would like to know about visa arrangements, salary suggestions, rules of engagement. I have a couple of people in mind as i work internationally but, I do not know where to start with the details of getting them over to the US. I plan to provide room and board, meals and clothing. The individual will be doing house work / yard work. Any insight will be appreceiated.

US consulate is always a place to start as well as the the Nepalese consulate. You would be working through them most likely for information.

I just followed the link provided by the second person, and went to that link. You need to get an EAD (employment authorisation document). I don’t buy the argument that you can’t hire people from other countries. Rich people don’t hire american citizens usually to do their different tasks. I still think consulates will be a better option to start with because other people would have similar requests and they have to deal with them or point you in the right direction.

for doing house work/ yard work, the INS is not going to issue a visa. You will have to proof that nobody in the USA can do that kind of job and the reason why, this person is qualified for that job.
Only highly skilled professionals get work visas.

They can not get a work visa because they have no special skills, the INS will tell you to hire someone that already live in the USA.
Go to the INS web site http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis
it will tell you about the different visa.
